Sometimes there are times you cannot read what your classmates sent. It might look like the following:

The e-mail text is mostly question marks (?) and some strange kanji. This happened when the original message was not encoded correctly. To send your e-mail with proper Japanese encoding, click here.
When this happens, go to View > Character Coding > More > East Asian. And choose one of the 3 Japanese encodings (EUC-JP), (ISO-2022-JP), (Shift-JIS). There's no way to tell which encoding works except by trial and error. In this example, (EUC-JP) is chosen.
After choosing the proper coding, you can read the e-mail.
